Thanks for fixing! Hi Kari - Thanks for reaching out to us.
I realized I had forgotten to come back and update my review. It freezes maybe once every two weeks but after a minute or so unfreezes. As of a couple of months ago, it's working SO much better. The only downside is its lack of Windows support. Overview: Bear features powerful Markdown capability and an excellent writing experience. You can instantly link one note to another to create a web of information, doing away with the need for tags and folders. Overview: Roam Research takes a different approach to organization than most note-taking tools.
Check if you have free access through your school or company. The price, however, could be prohibitive on a student budget. It can be a note-taking app, but there's also a database feature with multiple views including Trello-style kanban boards and calendars the ability to make anything into a template, and great collaboration features. You can take audio dictation, photos, make a to-do list or draw.
You can then resize your notes, add shapes and export to PDF and more. You can use a compatible stylus or write with your finger. It mimics taking notes in an actual notebook or legal pad. SquidNotes is one of those writing apps that captures your real handwriting. CON: One drawback? It requires an ongoing subscription, so take a test run before committing. Its clean interface is inviting to many users. It also offers writing goals and links to outside resources, like a PDF for instance. You can take notes in a plain text mode and then throw in another theme for export.
If you find yourself needing to transform your notes from raw form into something presentable, then Ulysses lets you do that all across your Mac devices. Ulysses is a hybrid writing program and note taking app. Its notebook feature helps you set up the organization that you need to group your notes and drawings into different categories. Create mind maps or draw a quick cartoon as a reminder. Made more like a sketch pad, you can dive into paintbrushes, swirls, and shapes. CON: Rising prices and uncertain product leadership. Check out our review on Evernote and its alternatives. If you need to export all of your notes, that can be tricky too, yet can be done. Its user interface has set the tone for the rest of the note apps, many of which have come after it. You can also collaborate on a note in real-time once they are shared with others. From there, you can assign next steps to meeting attendees and exchange feedback.īear bills itself as an app that you can use for everything from basic notes to full-on essays. In Fellow, you can start by applying a template to your meeting note, then build your agenda. Within Fellow you can build collaborative meeting agendas, record action items, and plot out actionable next steps. Simplenote allows you to sync all notes across devices, and you can view past changes in markdown mode. Simplenote is one of our favorite note taking apps for those who want something straightforward and simple, as the name suggests. Hugo is one of our favorite note taking apps for its futuristic and advanced capabilities. Hugo also helps you prep agendas with one-click templates and you can take in-meeting notes with both internal and external participants. You can also set reminders to alert you to any upcoming meetings so you never forget to set an agenda or prepare. In Hugo, you can see a general overview of the meetings on your calendar, as well as any tasks that are related to them. This is a relatively newer product on the market, and is basically a central place to gather everything related to any upcoming meetings. Hugo is a centralized place for all notes, meetings, and tasks. I have to admit that I am still learning, so I occasionally hit a hiccup. I came back to ZoomNotes and spent a little time learning. I had to keep for each job, but they were lacking in some areas. The other apps worked okay for the journal and the different notes, folders, etc. However, I started a new job so now I work 3 jobs. So I tried ZoomNotes a while back and gave up on it pretty quickly. Well, of course you could do millions but you want to mimic a physical desk. Tip: lay out a grid of letter size boundaries on your whiteboard before starting to take notes. However, the whiteboard mode with infinite zoom of ZoomNotes allows me to effectively have a virtual desk with many sheets of handwritten notes. I really missed this aspect of physical notes when I switched to my iPad.
